His invention—“We the People”—became the most quoted phrase in American politics.

It took 39 imperfect men to create a more perfect union.

And only 52 words to craft a mission statement for a new nation.

We have recreated the original opening phrase using a period-accurate typeface. The remainder of the Preamble is displayed in the same handwritten calligraphy used in the Declaration of Independence.
