When I was growing up, my Dad was obsessed with psychic phenomena and read an endless stream of books about the subject. He shared crazy stories about people who would fall asleep on a hardcover book, and wake up the next morning having “absorbed” the book’s knowledge while they slept.

He talked about spoon-bending and mind-bending, and a lot of wacky stuff that has since been debunked—or should be. Naturally, when I got the itch to write paranormal thrillers, I chose to write about it as if it was all utterly, completely real.
